Ard paces Lady Warriors in sectional meet By Dennis Wilson

Devann Ard is only a frosh but she turned in the top performance by a Warrior harrier in the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group III cross-country championship meet contested at the Holmdel County Park in Monmouth on Saturday. Ard finished 15th as she completed the 3.1-mile course in 20:57.20 as she paced the Lady Warriors to a sixth place team finish. Ard's classmate Kaitlin Beckert also turned in a strong effort, finishing 21st with a clocking of 21:42.20. In the boys' race, the Warriors placed seventh in the team standings as senior Kevin Schriel led the way, finishing 26th in a time of 18:13.10.

Future looks bright for Warrior harriers By Dennis Wilson

If the results of Saturday's prestigious Shore Conference Cross Country Invitational are an indication, the future of the boys and girls programs at Watchung Hills are bright. Watchung Hills competed at Holmdel Park over the same 5,000 meter course that will serve as the site of the NJSIAA Group Championships on November 10 as well as the NJSIAA Meet of Champions the following week. The Warriors were joined by more than 200 schools in what is the state's largest meet. Sophomore Steve Kinney led the Warriors to a 14th place team finish in the Varsity C Division event as he placed 49th overall, turning in a clocking of 18 minutes, 5.3 seconds. In the girls competition, a pair of frosh led the Lady Warriors to 12th place finish in the team standings as Devann Ard finished 22nd with a time of 21 minutes, 29.7 seconds while Kaitlin Beckert was 24th with a clocking of 21 minutes, 36.2 seconds.
